Mekatos Eatery

Our story begins in 1999, my wife and I met at Park City Mall. My wife is from Laos and I’m from Colombia and our foods were so new to each other. My wife thought Colombian food was a whole different world and so was Laos food for me. We had never tried foods of each other’s culture before. As the years went by my food pallet shifted to Laos food, we were barely eating Colombian food at home. My mother came to live with us from Colombia and started teaching us how to cook more Colombian food at home and this is where our passion to cook a variety of foods began. While learning how to my country’s food my wife and I decided to blend the flavors to see the outcome and it has been a wonderful experience.

Our family and friends always ask us to cook, so we started cooking and selling to them on the weekends. It became our bonding time since we both have so much passion for cooking, and we love to bring happiness to others through food. We understand the commitment and hard work that comes with running a restaurant due to both growing up with families who owned restaurants. As our kids have grown up into young adults, we are seeking to find a new challenge and exciting opportunity for us to enjoy our hobby. We want to devote this next chapter of our lives to opening our own restaurant and bringing pleasure to others through food.
